Welcome to Mystery & Whim Press News

Hello friends, readers, and the happily curious —

This is the first of what I hope will be occasional updates from Mystery & Whim Press. Think of it more as a friendly postcard than a corporate memo — the difference being that postcards are usually more fun.

What’s New

Our first book, I Meant to Say Something Else…And Another Thing, has made its way into the world. After months of formatting, proofing, and negotiating with the digital gods at Amazon, it’s finally sitting on shelves — both real and virtual.

I owe a special thanks to Candice, whose patience and creative eye have been part of this project from the beginning. Without her, many of these ideas would still be doodles in a notebook.

Why We’re Doing This

Mystery & Whim Press isn’t just about our own projects. Our real motive is to make publishing more accessible for first-time authors. We know the obstacles: confusing platforms, high fees, and the nagging worry that your work will vanish in a sea of digital noise. Our goal is to help writers get published at a reasonable cost — without losing their voice or their rights.

If you have a manuscript, memoir, or bundle of poems in a drawer, we want to help you take the next step.

Coming Up

  • Notes on our next projects (Gary Stories and beyond). Check out the link to our current projects.
  • Behind-the-scenes quirks of running a micro-press (where “budget” often means “ingenuity”).
  • Thoughts from Candice on design and creativity — including what she loves to read and publish.

Writers write — about what they know, and everything they can imagine!

A Final Thought

My mother used to warn me not to let others waste my time. These days I’ve realized it matters even more where we choose to spend it. Talking through ideas with Candice is time well spent.

Here’s to stories, to new voices finding their way into print and to the kind of whimsy that makes it all worthwhile.

Until next time,
— Gary Smith, Mystery & Whim Press
